Ashburn Entrepreneur and Philanthropist Kamal Gill died unexpectedly.

Kamaldeep Singh Gill, the C.E.O. and owner of The Zone, a Family Entertainment Center/Sports Bar and Restaurant, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 11, 2023, in Ashburn, Virginia. He was an entrepreneur and a philanthropist.

Who was Kamal Gill?

Kamal was born on September 4, 1973 to Sartaj Singh Bhinder and Rupinder Kaur in Jallandhar Cant. Punjab, India. He was Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O.) and owner of The Zone, a Family Entertainment Center and Sports Bar and Restaurant since 2013.

Early life and education

He earned his degree in Hotel Management from Mangalore University.

He earned certificates in Food and beverage Executive and Hotel Administration from the American Hotel & Lodging Association in January 2003. He added many certificates to his credentials, including Culinary Operations/Food and beverage, Sushi Chef from the Cochran Fellowship Program, Leadership and management from Emory University- Goizueta Business School, Hospitality Administration/Management, and Hospitality and Tourism Management from Florida Atlantic University of Business.

Kamal Gill’s Career

He was Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O.) and owner of The Zone, a Family Entertainment Center and Sports Bar and Restaurant since 2013.

He has been Chief Operating Officer (C.O.O) at VERTAAG and Managing Director and C.O.O.- Global Operations at BizzUniverse since 2019.

Before that, he had worked at Gate Gourmet as Unit Director-Operations in 2012,

Senior Vice President at Spice Hospitality/Luxor for a year in 2011-2012 in Loudoun County, Virginia, Director of Food & Beverage at Crowne Plaza Richmond for two years 2002-2004, and at Sterlings, Virginia 2004-2007.

He was Area Director of Food and Beverage and General Manager and Area Director of Food And Beverage in Loudoun County, Virginia, from 2007 to 2011. He was a Kitchen executive/ Sous Chef and Management Trainee at The Leela Palace, Hotel and Resorts for four years from 1995-1999.

Obituary and Funeral

His obituary was posted on Loudoun Funeral Chapel and Crematory Leesburg Virginia’s website. The visitations will be held on September 15 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, and a Sikh funeral service will be on September 15 at 11:00 am in Loudoun Funeral Chapel. A Sikh prayer (Paath), Bhog and Lungar (Lunch) will be at noon at Raj Khalsa Gurudwara.
